Legend of the Pickle Holiday Scavenger Hunt
The 2024 hunt kicks off on Sunday, November 10!
We are excited to partner with the Claussen Pickle team from Kraft Heinz again to bring this unique holiday tradition to Woodstock.
The Legend of the Pickle is a tradition of unknown origins (there are many stories as to where it originated). An ornamental pickle is placed on an inside branch of a Christmas tree as one of the decorations. On Christmas morning, the first person to find the pickle on the tree would receive an extra present from Santa or would be said to have a year of good fortune.
Since we could all use some good fortune, we are bringing this tradition to Woodstock with a slightly new twist.
Participating Woodstock businesses have an ornamental pickle hidden within the business or on a tree in or outside of their business.
Scavenger hunters can unscramble clues to identify the participating businesses and locate the pickles hidden throughout Woodstock.
Find 20 pickles to complete the scavenger hunt and turn in your completed game card by 5 PM Wednesday, December 11, 2024 to receive a Legend of the Christmas Pickle Craft ornament for your own tree, a 16" one topping thin-crust pizza from Antioch Pizza Shop (while supplies last) and a chance to win a grand prize or other great local prizes! There is no fee to participate in the Scavenger Hunt.
The fun begins on Sunday, November 10, 2024. Visit the Old Courthouse Center between noon and 3 PM to pick up a game card and get a free jar of Claussen pickles (one per family and while supplies last).
Return your completed Game Card to The Woodstock Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry office, The Woodstock Recreation Center, or Read Between the Lynes by 5 PM Wednesday, December 11, 2024. (Check drop-off locations for business hours).
Winners will be announced the week of December 16th.
